Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center

Founded in March 1964, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center is one of the four earliest specialized tumor hospitals established in New China. As a national leading institution integrating medical treatment, teaching, research, and prevention, it boasts the largest scale and strongest academic strength in oncology. The center undertakes crucial national responsibilities for cancer prevention and control, playing a pivotal role in cancer management across South China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, with its academic ranking and comprehensive capabilities maintaining nationwide leadership.

The center operates two campuses (Yuexiu and Huangpu) with 2,239 operational beds, handling 1.877 million outpatient visits and 185,000 inpatient admissions annually, ranking among the top-tier oncology hospitals in China in terms of medical service volume.

Solution

The “ATCENTRAL®” system covers all key processes for the reprocessing of reusable instruments (including flexible endoscopes) in the CSSD of the Yuexiu and Huangpu campuses. The system interfaces with other hospital systems to establish a comprehensive information management platform for the sterile supply centers. By leveraging modern information technology, the system significantly optimizes the following business processes: 1) recycle process; 2) sterilization process; and 3) daily operations and master data maintenance in the CSSD. This enhances operational transparency, strengthens internal management, improves service quality, and ultimately achieves the goals of enhancing medical safety and patient satisfaction.
